While Erin and I visited Kansas City for the Fourth of July, my dad took us on a site tour of “the compound.” He started building a barn/building/cabin on his new property (approximately four acres), near his parents in Claycomo. The goal is to complete the building by fall, so he can start moving things from the house and get it in order to sell for next year. He’s done most of the work by himself, with help from family, a church friend and a pair of laborers (who poured the concrete and helped with the roof). We were pretty impressed to see his progress.
The cabin aesthetic just adds to his four-year-long transition into Jeremiah Johnson.
