My nephew, Brian Branstetter, recently wrote took part in a class assignment to write a pen-pal letter to someone he knew. He chose Pop. I got a glance at it (and laughed), hanging on Pop’s refrigerator, during my last KC trip. The letter (copied below) reads: Dear Popa,
How are you? What are you doing? Are you planting your garden? The MAP test is coming up. Today we just took a test. We are going to take a nother test later.
I have been coming to school every day. I have also been doing my work every day. Oh, Mrs. Erwin has given [me] a candy bar every week for being here.
This week on Tuesday, we went to the First Christian Church field trip! On [the] 13th, we are going to a Royals game field trip!
Love,
Brian

Hey! I thought you had to get the parent’s permission before posting a child’s work on the internet! It’s okay, I won’t tell. Try to get your facts straight, though. This letter assignment was to write to a Veteran, in honor of our Veterans. That’s why he chose Papa!
Don’t get mad at me; your son is the one who told me it was just a pen-pal assignment.
